The Rowe

Grand Rapids is a city full of historical buildings and many of them are being converted into condos and living spaces with great stories about the building. The Rowe condos are located in one of the historical buildings in Grand Rapids that have been renovated over the years. Originally opened as The Rowe Hotel in 1923, this 1.5 million dollar project was way ahead of its time and was built as a new "fire proof" hotel. For many years, this building would continue to be a hotel where many different people would stay the night. One of the most famous people to spend the night in The Rowe Hotel was John F Kennedy in 1958 when he made a trip to Grand Rapids.

Eventually, the hotel would no longer be the most modern and up to date in the city, which is when it was renamed the Old Manor and converted into a retirement home. Serving as a retirement facility, the property was fully functional until it closed its doors leaving the building vacant from 2001 to 2014. After remaining vacant for that period of time, there was an announcement made in December of 2014 that there was a renovation project being planned for the building. The renovation would turn the main floors into the home of some local business and apartments creating a mixed-use building with condos units up top. On the top two floors of this historical building, you can find the nine condo units with spectacular views of the city.

For more than 90 years, this historical building has been a place for people to stay or retire, and now it is a place to call home. Not only does this building have a great history about it, there is also another great amenity...LOCATION. The Rowe condos are just minutes from downtown and there are a several amenities right out your front door. One of the most recent additions to the north side of town is the Atwater Brewery Grand Rapids location. This brewery is located on the bottom floor of The Rowe condo building and features great craft beers to wash down a yummy array of menu options.

Located across from the Devos Performance Hall, shows and events are practically right out the front door of the building. Stop by Devos to listen to the Grand Rapid Symphony or stop by to view the masterpieces that are displayed for Art Prize each year. If you are a fan of fast or fancy cars, the Detroit Auto Show comes to Devos each year. You can walk through the million dollar room where your jaw will drop at the beautiful selection of cars.

Another big part of the Grand Rapids area is the constant growth of what is known as the Medical Mile. This area of town which has grown tremendously over the years with the addition of new hospitals and universities that specialize in teaching students about the medical field. The Rowe condos are located just around the corner from the building being used as Michigan State's College of Human Medicine. Grand Valley State University also has a building dedicated to the medical field located just a little further east of The Rowe condos.
